A shopper lost hundreds when they were locked out of their Walmart account
A Walmart shopper was recently locked out of their account and lost ‘hundreds’ of dollars as a result, with others believed to be at risk.
A Walmart Spark driver logged into her account, and expected to see hundreds of dollars. Normally her account could show that she earned hundreds of dollars a day, but on that given day it displayed just $40.
“That’s when we realized something was wrong,” the driver told Business Insider. It turned out that somebody else had access to her account, and they were turning up Walmart and taking orders on her behalf.
As a result, they were doing the work on behalf of the Spark driver and taking the money home with them. On top of that, they were taking money earned by the woman for her orders.
Numerous orders over the previous two weeks had been accepted on her account that the driver had nothing to do with, and she said she was ‘baffled’ by the fact that Walmart workers were handing orders over to a different driver using her name.
The problem has popped up in about half a dozen posts in Facebook groups for Spark drivers over the last two weeks, with Walmart admitting they are ‘struggling’ to deal with fradulent drivers.
The megastore say that they are implementing tactics to avoid this sort of situation, but apparently there have been issues with that too, with drivers describing it as ‘far from perfect’.
