SAN Miguel Beer guns for its second straight victory when it tangles with winless Converge on Saturday in the first out-of-town match of PBA Season 48 as action for the Commissioner’s Cup continues in Tiaong, Quezon.
The Beermen chalked up their first win last week following their 93-83 demolition of the Meralco Bolts.
The lone PBA match begins at 6:15 p.m.
SMB is favored to beat Converge given the Bremen’s lock and loaded roster that includes seven-time league Most Valuable Player (MVP) June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez and veterans Marcio Lassiter as well as Chris Ross.
High-scoring guard Terrence Romeo has been listed as day-to-day after sustaining bone contusion on his shin last week against the Bolts.
Of course, Virgin Island national player Ivan Aska is also there to provide inside presence in a solid front court tandem with Fajardo, while Jeron Teng, the team’s offseason acquisition, will be facing his former team for the first time.
The FiberXers have yet to win in three starts and are obviously struggling to find their identity in the new season after letting go of their two veteran stars in Jeron Teng and Maverick Ahanmisi during the off season.
Both superstars had a combined average of 27 points during their stay with Converge last season.
Import Tom Vodanovic leads Converge with averages of 19 points and 11 rebounds per game while Jerrick Balanza averages 13.7 points per game. Last season’s outstanding rookie Justin Araña also averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 boards per game this season.
