The Crimean bridge may not be able to withstand the load after it was damaged as a result of Ukrainian attacks. Therefore, the Russian army does not fully use it for its logistics, according to the head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces Dmytro Pletenchuk.

“Russians are worried that the bridge may not withstand. Sometimes their social media also confirm this information. There has been more than one official statement from the Ukrainian Security Service that after a successful operation by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Navy, which resulted in a strike on the pillar of the Crimean Bridge, further operation of the railway in full is almost impossible,” Pletenchuk explained.

According to him, currently, the Russian forces do not use the Crimean Bridge in full for logistics, but nevertheless, they transport weapons or personnel by truck.

“For example, trailed artillery can pass or an Iskander tactical missile system can also cross the bridge. But echelons with armored vehicles have not been seen there for a long time,” Pletenchuk added.

Russia has stopped using the Crimean bridge to supply weapons to the front

As we reported yesterday, after repeated attacks by Ukraine, Russia stopped supplying weapons to its troops at the front via the Crimean Bridge. Russia started using land routes through the occupied territory.

Satellite images show that hardly any military freight trains have been traversing the railway line of the bridge for three months.

During this period, only one Russian freight train was observed crossing the bridge on February 29, carrying about 55 fuel wagons.

Analysts stated that in March and April, there was no movement involving Russian military forces on the bridge.

It is noted that Russia’s use of the bridge significantly decreased after Ukraine attacked it on July 17, 2023, using a naval landing craft and damaging part of the roadway and railway line.
