U.S women's 4x100m relay team sprints to championship record, Canada places seventh
Tamari Davis, the number 3 ranked 100 metre athlete in the world this year leads off the USA and Keti Yasido as the Netherlands field the same team as the first round. Yesterday. Sadie Mccreith once again on the opening level for Canada, USA, the World Champions and Olympic silver medallist Tamari Davis looking to convert her fine individual form and already making inroads on Poland. Outside here, Australia have gone out strongly with Ebony Lane on the back straight as well. Not a great change there in the middle of the field by the USA, but Gaby Thomas has got the baton. Great Britain and Northern Ireland going well with Amy Hunt down the back straight as well. That’s a better change to the USA and Poland, to drop the baton there out of it on the inside United States just ahead of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Then come Australia and Germany as United States and the final bat and on to Melissa Jefferson down the home straight rather than inside. France are running well with Malorie Le Con as well. The medal positions are up for grabs, but it’s the USA once again who will take the title. France on the inside ahead of Great Britain for 2nd and 3rd but it’s two out of two for the USA as Melissa Jefferson brings them home in the women’s 4 by 100 metres championship record time of 41.86. France can’t believe their achievement from lane one as well. Eva Sloboda never got a chance to have an impact on the final leg because the bat never reached her. Great Britain and Northern Ireland with Aaliyah Sibbons, the young international debutantes, bringing them home in the bronze medal position. But France’s Joy confirmed Daphne as from lane one. They get a silver medal. It’s a very difficult position because you have the various like the the tight bend and that’s that’s really difficult in the in the in the four by one as well. So they didn’t expect it and nobody expected. But that’s the nice thing of the four by one. Well we’ll get to see what happened to Poland coming round that top bend as well there you get to see US. It didn’t look the smoothest change over to Gaby Thomas the first change. We’ll see that in a moment as well, going down the back straight, but she managed to put that behind her. Amy Hunt ran a good back straight. She ran a great home straight for Great Britain and Northern Ireland yesterday, but it’s the bronze medal for them. USA taking the title. The world champions become the world relay champions here and again with the strength of the quartet that the the US team have put out there, strong favourites and rewarded for the quality of athletes they brought here and France, Let’s look at the jaw in their face. Daphne there, Great Britain and Ireland. It’s a great result as well. They made a couple of changes, Great Britain and Northern Ireland. They took out Imani Lantico, who’s the European number one this year, and Astra Philip, the multiple major medalists, brought in two of their relatively untested youngsters, Alison Bell and Aliyah Sibbons, making their senior international debuts at a major championship like this and to get on the podium. I think that’s really encouraging for British sprinting as well. But it’s 41.85, the championship record, beating their mark from here 10 years ago by three one hundredths of a second. So let’s have a look. Keep your eye on the USA here in lane #4 for this first change between Tamari Davis and Gabby Thomas. Just disappearing at the corner of your shot there. Having a look at the Netherlands at the moment. Hopefully we’ll get to see that US change. Netherlands are pretty efficient. We’ve completely missed that USA change, but this one was fine. Look at Poland here. Oh dear. Again, just reaching for it Poland and the momentum took the athlete to the ground. You got France. It was a Great Bend on the inside there, which threw them into contention as the stagger unwell. It actually wasn’t a great change from France, was it? No, it wasn’t. Took a long time. But the speed, it was there. So I think that’s the most important thing, the speed. If the speed of both athletes are there, then then you can go fast with the betting as well. Yeah, Helena Pariso to Manori Le Con on the inside, but Melissa Jefferson anchoring the USA home comfortably and again all out to the line. And the reward for that is not only the prize money in the title, but a championship record taking down the road mark from 10 years ago. It’s also the fastest time that any relay team has produced in the world. This year, the world champions of the United States of America recording a championship record beating their own mark from 10 years ago, France from Lane One, picking up the silver medal ahead of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
