Two Victorian police officers forced to postpone wedding after alleged crook tests positive to Covid

Asia's Tech News Daily

Two Victorian police officers due to get married on Thursday have had to delay their wedding because an alleged crook tested positive to coronavirus.

Ocean Grove couple Steve and Arissa, who are both police officers, were supposed to get married on Thursday until she arrested an alleged offender that later tested positive to Covid-19.

“Unfortunately, she did the job too well,” Steve told 3AW.

“The very last (alleged) offender of the very last shift before we went on leave to get ready for our wedding turned out (they) tested Covid positive.

“We knew that there was a (alleged) co-offender who had tested positive on the Friday when she had made the arrest, but it was confirmed on Sunday night the offender Arissa had arrested had also tested positive.

“We got the call then. We’ve then had to start making the calls to cancel everything.”

Steve said every bad situation had a “silver lining”.

“She broke the news to me and then she spent the rest of the day in bed pretty depressed about the situation and then we started looking at ‘what are the positives that we can pull from it’?” he said.

“An upside is Arissa parents are in lockdown in Melbourne, along with our dogs, so we could have her parents come along.

“The upside is we will be able to have a few more people instead of just the next-door neighbours, which is who we were going to have coming along.”

From Friday, when restrictions ease in Victoria, couples getting married in regional Victoria can have up to 30 fully vaccinated guests indoors and 100 fully vaccinated guests outdoors.

When Victoria reaches 80 per cent double-dose vaccinated about a week later, travel from Melbourne into regional Victoria will be allowed again and weddings across the state can have 150 fully vaccinated guests indoors and 500 outdoors.
