TV anchor shuts down troll calling her outfit ‘inappropriate’ for reading news
Australian journalist Narelda Jacobs responded to a viewer who mailed the channel she is working with, calling her outfit ‘inappropriate’ for news reading.
In a post shared on Instagram, Jacobs shared a screengrab of the email along with the outfit she wore during the telecast. “Yes, we still receive emails like this. Yes, it went to the entire newsroom. Yes, I was on air at the time. Yes, it is intended to shame and humiliate me. No, what I’m wearing is not inappropriate but your email sure is,” she wrote.
Received on May 7, the email read, “Subject: Narelda Jacobs. News. Feedback: Inappropriate dress sense for reading the news. Cleavage is for the nightclubs.”
Take a look at the viral post:
Jacobs’ post triggered numerous reactions. Commenting on the post, a user wrote, “Subject: Narelda Jacobs. News. Feedback: Always stunning, informed and intelligent”. Another user wrote, “Looking absolutely stunning as always ! The only thing “ inappropriate “ is the feedback !”
“Love you Narelda! They can go to hades. Wouldn’t it be great to find out where they work and send them some company-wide feedback?” a third user commented.
Last year, a Canadian traffic reporter Leslie Horton, on live television, addressed a troll who body-shamed her. The video showed Horton responding to a troll who wrote, “Congratulations on your pregnancy”. Horton said the email also read, “If you’re gonna wear old bus driver pants then you have to expect emails like this.”
She said, “So, thanks for that. Um, no, I’m not pregnant. I actually lost my uterus to cancer last year. And um, this is what women of my age look like. So, if it is offensive to you, that is unfortunate. Think about the emails you send,” Horton said.
