Biden Hits Trump Directly on Economy Comments: ‘He Already Is’ Hoover

‘He’s acknowledging that my economy is doing pretty darn well,’ the president says about his competitor

President Joe Biden knocked Donald Trump over his recent comment that he hopes if the economy crashes, it happens before his potential second term.

“When does it crash? I hope it’s gonna be during these next 12 months because I don’t wanna be Herbert Hoover,” Trump told Lou Dobbs in an interview for a media company owned by MyPillow’s Mike Lindell.

In a campaign video posted to social media, the president watched and reacted to Trump’s comments, declaring that his competitor “already is Herbert Hoover.”

“He’s acknowledging that my economy is doing pretty darn well because he doesn’t want that to continue. And by the way, the idea that he wants to see a crash in the next 12 months, but doesn’t want to be Herbert Hoover, he has to understand, he’s already Herbert Hoover,” he said. “He’s the only other president who lost jobs during his term.”

President Herbert Hoover was elected shortly before the Great Depression.

This is the first time Biden’s campaign has done this style of video, with the president watching a clip and then reacting directly to the camera.

Many job losses during Trump’s term in the White House can be attributed to the COVID pandemic and shutdowns.

Biden’s campaign previously blasted Trump over his economy comments, calling them “vile.”

“Donald Trump should just say he doesn’t give a damn about people, because that’s exactly what he’s telling the American people when he says he hopes the economy crashes,” the statement reads.
