Former critic of former President Donald Trump turned staunch ally Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., was highly critical of Trump in his grand jury testimony for Trump’s Georgia election interference case, according to a new report.
The detail comes from Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman’s upcoming book “Find Me the Votes,” which was previewed by Politico.
The news outlet reports that a source interviewed for the book said Graham “threw Trump under the bus” in his testimony.
Trump is facing 12 charges related to his alleged attempt at election tampering in Georgia related to the phone call with Georgia’s secretary of state, whom Trump asked to “find” votes for him after President Joe Biden won the state and other attempts to undermine the outcome of the election.
“[If you told Trump] That Martians came and stole the election, he’d probably believe you,” Graham reportedly said in his testimony.
Graham is also reported to have said that Trump cheats at golf and to have later thanked Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for the opportunity to testify.
“That was so cathartic,” Graham told Willis according to a witness interviewed by Isikoff and Klaidman. “I feel so much better.”
