Dunham Bridge was still flooded on Sunday, January 7.
Dunham Bridge, which connects Lincolnshire to Nottinghamshire, has fully reopened after being closed for nearly a week due to severe flooding caused by Storm Henk. The bridge was declared fully operational again on Friday, January 12.
The bridge was flooded on Friday, January 5 during Storm Henk, but Lincolnshire County Council highway crews managed to reopen a single lane last night (Thursday). Cllr Richard Davies, the authority’s executive member for highways, said: “Because the ground is so waterlogged at the base of the bridge and the sheer volume of water involved, it’s taken a massive effort and some extremely difficult work to reach this stage.”
The bridge was temporarily operating at a reduced capacity and is now back to normal. A lengthy diversion, which took motorists south around Lincoln to rejoin the A57, has also been lifted.

It will be free to cross the bridge until 10pm on Friday, January 12. Stephen Betteridge, one of the directors of Dunham Bridge Company, said that staff offices nearby had been flooded and would require small-scale repairs.
