The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicted a storm system developing in the Gulf of Mexico that could possibly, ruin the holidays and cause problems for people on the East Coast. Forecasters have warned amid the possibility of a storm and heavy rainfall in Florida coupled with flooding this weekend and extend till Monday.

Up to seven inches of rain, wind gusts of up to fifty miles per hour, and nocturnal tornadoes are all predicted for portions of South Florida, including Miami and Maine.

After wintry weather Thursday morning over the central/southern Rockies/High Plains, a stronger storm system to develop over the Gulf of Mexico by this weekend, the NOAA shared in its prediction for the weekend.

However, despite the holiday season, a snowstorm is not expected in the state. Forcasters believe it to be a very warm, wet, and blustery storm that could cause power outages in the areas it sweeps through.

“Wind and rain are expected to overspread the Southeast later this weekend and then up the East Coast into early next week. ,” the NOAA said in its post on Meta. The Tampa and Orlando metro regions are included in this tornado risk.

Forecasters advised Floridians to make arrangements for receiving alerts in the case of a tornado outbreak that occurs at night. The bad weather would affect the entire Interstate 95 corridor, whose impacts could be felt until Monday.

Heavy rain showers will spread over the entire state and drench South Florida by Saturday night, as per the experts. Over most of the state and far southern Georgia, extreme rainfall is predicted to be a Level 2 out of 4 concern on Saturday. New Jersey is also expected to be hit by the storm, causing flooding due to heavy showers that may cause rivers to rise.
