Traveling To Dubai From India? Get Ready For A Seamless Commute At This Airport

Fujairah International Airport (FIA), just an hour’s drive from Dubai, might soon offer daily flights from India.

Mark Govender, FIA’s business development manager, shared this news with Khaleej Times at a Dubai event. Pending some paperwork, flights could commence “as early as this year.”

Fujairah, one of UAE’s seven emirates, boasts some of the most beautiful beaches along the Persian Gulf.

According to Money Control, Govender shared that FIA handles a total of  two million passengers annually and is capable of hosting at least 20 flights per day thanks to its parallel runway. He further emphasized the airport’s efficiency, noting passengers can complete immigration, grab baggage, and exit within 15 minutes.

This development comes amid Dubai’s popularity as a top international destination for Indian travelers, as highlighted by a recent Agoda survey. Plus, earlier this year, Dubai rolled out a five-year multiple-entry visa for Indian visitors, allowing stays of up to 90 days, extendable once within a year.

Besides this, Emirates Airlines recently teamed up with VFS Global to offer a pre-approved visa-on-arrival service for certain Indian passport holders flying with the airline.

With India topping the charts for the highest number of passengers passing through Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel, at 11.9 million, the demand for easier connectivity between India and UAE is evident.
