The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) oversees communication regulations in India. They developed the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) app to help people tackle annoying calls and texts. However, this app had some technical glitches causing problems for users. TRAI’s Secretary V Raghunandan spoke about these issues at a Truecaller event, highlighting that they are actively working on resolving these problems.

The main purpose of the DND app is to help mobile users to report and block unwanted calls or messages efficiently. Raghunandan assured that TRAI is focused on fixing these bugs to enhance the app’s performance.

By addressing these technical challenges, TRAI aims to ensure that the DND app functions smoothly, allowing users to easily report and block bothersome communications. This effort is part of TRAI’s commitment to providing better services and improving the experience for mobile users in India. Users can anticipate a more reliable and efficient DND app following the resolution of these technical issues.

Raghunandan discussed the ongoing efforts to fix technical issues in the TRAI’s Do Not Disturb (DND) app. Acknowledging these problems, TRAI has engaged an external agency to tackle the identified bugs within the app. Consequently, many issues on specific Android phones have already been resolved, and there’s a plan to ensure the app works universally across devices by March 2024.

However, the DND app currently faces a compatibility hurdle with iPhones due to Apple’s restrictions on accessing call logs. TRAI is actively striving to make the app compatible with iOS devices, although a specific timeline for this endeavor hasn’t been provided yet.

Raghunandan highlighted a noticeable decline in bothersome calls and texts in India, attributing this positive change to the enhancements made to the DND app. Meanwhile, Alan Mamedi, the CEO of Truecaller, shared that the app boasts over 270 million active users in India, who collectively report around 5 million spam calls daily.

With the anticipated improvements and increased compatibility of the TRAI DND app, it’s expected that there will be a further reduction in spam calls in the future, contributing to a better mobile experience for users across different devices.

How to use TRAI DND app

–Find the TRAI DND 3.0 app on the Google Play Store.

–Click on “Install” and wait for the app to download and install on your phone.

–Open the installed TRAI DND 3.0 app.

–Sign in by completing the OTP (One-Time Password) verification.

–Once signed in, your number will be added to the Do Not Disturb (DND) list,blocking unwanted calls and texts.

–If you still receive bothersome calls or texts, use the app to report and file a –complaint to your telecom service provider for further action.
