tottenham news: harry kane transfer stance amid daniel levy's ange postecoglou decision

Harry Kane has spoken about his thoughts on moving abroad.

Your morning Tottenham digest on Monday, June 5.

Levy’s final decision

Daniel Levy is closing in on finally appointing a new Tottenham manager as Ange Postecoglou looks set to become the permanent predecessor to Antonio Conte.

After talks broke down with Julian Nagelsmann and Arne Slot, Celtic boss Postecoglou has emerged as the clear front-runner to be in charge next season.

The Australian is reportedly finalising the details of his contract before being named as the next boss by Levy. He himself has so far been coy on the rumours, though. “I’m going to be a little bit selfish,” he said after helping Celtic to the treble with the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

“People around me have all worked hard to enjoy this moment, so that’s what I’m going to do. I will enjoy it for as long as I can before people drag me away to talk about other things.”

What Kane has said about move abroad

After Real Madrid confirmed that Karim Benzema would be leaving the club on a free transfer this summer following 14 years of service in Spain, the obvious link of Harry Kane emerged once more.

Kane is a target for Madrid this summer, as he is for other top European clubs, but the move away for Benzema has opened it up like never before with a clear gap in the forward department at Santiago Bernabeu.

With the Premier League goalscoring record in Kane’s sights, he has previously opened up on a move away from the country. Speaking to Gary Neville two years ago, he said: “Of course there’s always the option of maybe moving abroad one day but I don’t think that really interests me in the near future.”

Loan decisions to be made

Tottenham, their new manager and Daniel Levy will have a key set of decisions to be made over what to do with their loanees this summer. With expensive purchases, promising youngsters and others in-between, it is some group heading back to Hotspur Way.

Tanguy Ndombele is perhaps the most high-profile after moving to Napoli for the year. His stellar season in Naples has helped to establish his profile once more but a long-term future in north London is far from guaranteed.

Bryan Gil and Destiny Udogie are in a different camp, though. They may well see their prospects of getting into the first team as more readily available with Conte no longer at the helm.
