Tottenham Hotspur have enquired over the availability of RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol as they look to secure defensive reinforcements this summer.

The Croatian defender has drawn interest from a number of clubs across Europe this summer after impressing during his debut season with the German outfit.

With competition for the youngster’s signature high, Tottenham have taken the initiative and contacted his club over a potential move to north London this summer.

According to GFFN, the Premier League outfit have made the first steps into sorting a potential deal for the Leipzig defender – having already announced the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster.

Antonio Conte has been in the market for a new central defender since the opening of the window, with their pursuit of Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni coming to an end last week.

Their search for a left-sided defender to replace Ben Davies next season could soon come to an end – with the Leipzig centre-half fitting the bill perfectly.

In his first season at the club since his move from Dinamo Zagreb, Gvardiol played almost 50 games and helped Domenico Tedesco’s side finish fourth in the Bundesliga, win the German Cup and reach the Europa League semi-finals.

With no buyout clause in his contract, which expires in 2026, Bundesliga side Leipzig are bracing themselves for imminent bids.
