Tornadoes touch down in Michigan after destructive storms throughout the central US
Thank you for joining us tonight and welcome to AccuWeather Prime. I’m Melissa Constanzer and our top story tonight is the severe weather including all the Tornadoes. Tornadoes have touched down in southern Michigan this evening and with damage confirmed in Portage photos show that there was a FedEx facility that was damaged by one of those tornadoes. This comes one day after more than a dozen tornadoes touched down in the plains where one person was killed, another one is still missing. One video captured the heart pounding moments of one of those tornadoes swapping sweeping, sweeping through. A Hampton Inn in Bartlesville. OK last night. The winds were so intense that pieces of wood actually ended up piercing the walls of the hotel. The same tornado that hit the hotel in Bartlesville also tore through Barnesville, Oklahoma, and it was located about 20 miles away in Barnstell, Oklahoma. Officials say that one person was killed, another is still missing. Devastation comes just five weeks after another tornado damaged homes in Barnesville on April 1st. Last night’s tornado was given a preliminary rating of an EF4, which is the low end of the side there. But by the National Weather Service they’ve been scouring the ground. They’re looking for that debris and the depths, the extent of the debris.
