if they ask for pitches that spin a lot….: ex-england captain nasser hussain fires major ‘bazball’ warning to india
India and England are set to play one of the most important series of the year on January 25 later this month as the Rohit Sharma and Ben Stokes-led teams go head-to-head in a five-match Test series in what is an extremely important assignment for both teams in their hopes of reaching the 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) Final.
India hold an almost invincible record at home as far as red-ball cricket is concerned, as they have not lost a home series for more than 11 years. In fact, India’s last series defeat on home soil came under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in 2012 at the hands of England, who were then captained by Alaister Cook.
A lot of focus going into the five-match Test series will be on the pitches, with Indian captain Rohit already dropping a hint that the tracks will support spinners. Former England captain Nasser Hussain has sent a major warning to the Indian team over producing rank turners against ‘Bazball’ and claimed the home side will be better at making surfaces that are good pitches.

Not Virat Kohli! Ex-ENG Spinner Feels 54-Test Veteran Is ‘Don Bradman Of Turning Pitches’
“I think what India should do is ask for good pitches that spin a bit because I think their spinners and batters will then out-bat and out-spin ours. If they ask for pitches that spin a lot, then it becomes a bit of a lottery and brings England’s spinners into the game. The way Bazball goes about its business, they would not die wondering,” said Hussain to SKY Sports Cricket Podcast.
England’s last two trips to India have been disasterous affairs, as they lost a five-match series 4-0 in 2016. In 2021, they made a dream start by beating India in the series opener but lost the last three games of the series.
