A 5.2 magnitude earthquake rattled near Peru’s capital city Lima Thursday afternoon, with tremors felt in the cities of Huaral, Chancay, Huaura, Hualmay, and Huacho.

The quake, according to the United States Geological Survey, occurred 13 kilometers northwest of Chancay at 3:53 p.m. EDT Thursday, at a depth of 67 kilometers.

Many residents confirmed feeling the tremors, with most describing it as “strong movement for a short duration.

“The windows and the floor shook. It was strong and felt like a double tremor, one after the other! In the Los Olivos sector of Lima, no earthquake alarm sounded,” one person wrote on European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre’s website.

Another wrote, “Strong movement and noise, not very long.”

As of now, no injuries or damages have been reported.
