Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has fired an ominous warning to his team’s Premier League title rivals after his FA Cup heroics at Luton Town.

Haaland became the first player to score five goals in a FA Cup clash for a top-flight side since George Best in 1970 during Tuesday’s 6-2 win in Bedfordshire.

Fellow superstar Kevin De Bruyne assisted four of Haaland’s goals in a worrying sign for City’s title rivals in the Premier League.

De Bruyne was rested for the recent win over Brentford and only played the last six minutes against AFC Bournemouth but completed 90 minutes against Luton and now looks back to his best after injury problems earlier in the season.

Pep Guardiola’s side return to Premier League action on Sunday when they host Manchester United and currently sit second between Liverpool and Arsenal.

Speaking ahead of that match, Haaland told ITV: ‘We made a plan [against Luton] and everyone stuck to it perfectly. Well played by everyone.

‘Kevin De Bruyne is massive. He is doing what he is best at. It’s a pleasure playing with him. We know what we both want from each other. It clicks well. He is a smart player and I like to play with him.

‘My fitness? I am getting back to my best. Finally I am feeling good. It’s an amazing feeling. It’s coming, we’re coming. Exciting times ahead.’

Haaland was then asked directly if he was making a warning to City’s title rivals and added: ‘I don’t need to say it… We are ready to attack.’

The Norway international is the top scorer in the Premier League so far this season with 17 goals in 21 top-flight matches.
