MANILA, Philippines: The defending champs De La Salle Lady Spikers scored a 25-12, 25-22, 25-19 bounce back win at the expense of rivals Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, March 2.
La Salle’s Thea Gagate (right) PHOTO BY RIO DELUVIOThea Gagate dropped 15 points on nine spikes, five blocks, and one service ace to lead La Salle, which recovered from its 5-set loss to UST and defeated Ateneo for the 13th straight game.
That winning streak started on May 2, 2017 when the Lady Spikers defeated the Blue Eagles in Game One of the Season 79 Finals.
Shevana Laput also came through with 13 points for La Salle, which improved to 3-1 to rise to second place in the team standings behind the 3-0 UST Golden Tigresses.
Lyann De Guzman pumped 13 points to pace the Blue Eagles, who dropped to 1-3, good for seventh place.
