TikTok superstar Miriam Mullins appeared on the Late Late Show on Friday night.
The Cork woman, who has surpassed over 1.6million followers on the app, spoke to host Ryan Tubridy about her time in lockdown and being an influence on young people.
The social media influencer typically makes sketch videos featuring the famous ‘Irish mammy’ but also makes informative videos about consent and going back to school.
‘I just wanted to do content where people could come onto my page and go “Oh my God, I relate to that, that happened to me!”,’ she said.
‘But I never tried to be funny, I just wanted to do content where people could come for a little breakaway.’
“I absolutely love being a role model to young people”

Speaking about her videos on consent, Miriam said that she receives messages from both teenage girls and teenage boys about what to do in those situations.
‘I love being a role model to young people … The last couple of months have been a bit crazy, people haven’t experienced things and are a bit more anxious than normal. From my experiences of being in school and at college, I take that on and hopefully help people.’
Although some were less than impressed with the RTÉ flagship hosting a social media star.
‘This is how far the #LateLateShow has fallen … TikTok. Gone are the days of a seriously decent discussion with Gay Byrne or even Pat Kenny… so now someone with TikTok followers is a big thing.’

However, others were also quick to defend the TikTok star and praise her positive influence.
‘People giving off that Miriam Mullins is on the #LateLateShow but at the end of the day she’s an entertainer, same as any other comedian or musician being on it? Hard to please everyone.’

Well done Miriam Mullins, she is such a positive influence on young people. She gave a guest talk to my first year marketing students @MTU_ie earlier in the year and was fantastic at answering questions #LateLateShow pic.twitter.com/Nh7gCS5XCG
