Fabio Carvalho was taking part in a blind rankings challenge on social media Mason Mount has struggled for game time since his £60m move to Man UnitedCHRIS SUTTON: Erik ten Hag is still on trial. He needs more than gradual improvement this season to keep his job - It's All Kicking Off podcast
Fabio Carvalho has brutally trolled Mason Mount during a blind ranking challenge posted on Hull City’s Tik Tok.
The attacking midfielder, who is currently on loan at the Tigers from Liverpool, was seen in the video playing a game that required him to order several footballers past and present.
Carvalho was not able to see which player would come next but had to order the players from one to ten. The list featured several legends from years gone by, including former Barcelona forward Samuel Eto’o and ex-Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Carvalho was first presented with Man United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka and placed him 10th in his order, before ranking Atletico Madrid and France World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann eighth.
He’d place Raphael Varane ninth before naming Marc-Andre Ter Stegen in seventh place. Thiago Silva, Fabregas and Eto’o would all place at fifth, fourth and third in his rankings – leaving him with two spots left to fill.

Fabio Carvalho mocked Mason Mount during a blind ranking challenge posted on Hull City’s Tik Tok account

He’d then be presented with legendary German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, placing him in second place, with Mason Mount subsequently taking the top spot.
Carvalho paused for a moment as the Man United midfielder’s icon was added to the top spot, before laughing and wheeling away before the video ended.
Hull City captioned the Tik Tok: ‘Don’t think Fabio’s plan worked’ before adding a ‘laughing face’ emoji.
Mount arrived at Old Trafford last summer in a £60million move from Chelsea ending an 18-year stay at the west London club, having joined the club’s youth academy when he was just six years old.
But he has endured a slow start to life at United, being plagued with injuries so far this season.
He missed several games at the start of the season, before sustaining a calf injury that has kept him out of action since November.
It is still unclear when he will be available to play again, with Manchester Evening News reporting earlier this week that he had been dealt a further setback in his recovery.
When he has been available for selection, Mount has started in just four of the eight Premier League games he’s played in for United and has not found the back of the net.
Last week Erik ten Hag offered his sympathies to Mount, claiming the midfielder wouldn’t be rushed back from injury.
The midfielder was seen laughing when he was forced to rank Mount top of his list
Carvalho joined Hull on loan from Liverpool in January and has gone on to make three appearances for the Championship side since his arrival
The England international has been ruled out of most of the 2023-24 season with several injuries
Erik Ten Hag offered his sympathies to the 25-year-old and hoped that he could find a way back into his starting XI
‘He was struggling from the second game of the season,’ said Ten Hag. ‘He returned for a period and then picked up another injury, so of course that’s not great.
‘That is very frustrating for him and I really feel for him. I really want to be there for him because he had such high expectations and I had high expectations.
‘I am sure he is a very good player for us. But, first of all, what’s now important is we have to do it very secure to get him fit. Secure in the process, step by step, don’t force it and then hopefully by the end of the season he can stay fit and fight his way into the team, or at least play a role in his team.’
The Dutchman was also asked whether he expects the midfielder to feature for United again before the end of the season, with Ten Hag replying: ‘Absolutely, I expect him to return.’
