PHILADELPHIA — The matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday afternoon won’t just feature the return of Doc Rivers to Philly, but also Patrick Beverley.

Beverley was a free agent addition in the offseason and 47 games for the Sixers with five starts before he was moved to the Bucks at the deadline in exchange for Cam Payne and a second-round pick. He averaged 6.3 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.1 rebounds for the Sixers before the trade.

Beverley was a fan favorite in Philadelphia and his teammates were also fond of him as well. Tyrese Maxey has kept in contact with Beverley since the trade and is excited to see his former teammate on Sunday.

“I talk to him all the time,” Maxey beamed. “Sometimes when I’m playing Call of Duty he joins my party and talk noise and whatever. He’ll shoot me a text or he’ll slide up on one of my Instagram stories and say something about he gonna lock me up or whatever.”

That’s just Beverley’s personality. He is the ultimate competitor and he is somebody who had the respect of his teammates in Philadelphia. Maxey is looking forward to not only seeing his former teammate, but also a friend.

“I love Pat Bev though,” Maxey added. “Like honestly, it just comes with the business. It sucks. You get close to people, but I think those are lifelong friendships and I feel like he’s made it to where I can call him if I need anything. I definitely will do that and I’m gonna definitely chop it up. I’m pretty sure he’s going to bring high energy. We know who Pat Bev is and I’m pretty sure he’ll bring us a lot of laughs and a lot of joy.”
