Multiple coffee tables means multiplying your surface area. When placing two coffee tables next to each other, especially at differing heights, you can offer up not only additional space for decor, but alternative functionality.
For example, if you’re a household that loves putting your feet up on furniture, then a shorter coffee table can be reserved for wiggling toes. An adjacent coffee table can then be used for food items, candles and other needs.
Coffee tables at a higher height can be used for items that should be out of reach of small hands as well, such as lit candles or hot coffee. Having both coffee tables allows for younger children to be in reach of toys, books and snacks when they want, while staying safe from risky objects.
