In April, several smartphone brands, including Motorola, Realme, and Infinix, launched their latest products in India. The trend is expected to continue in May, as many brands like Samsung, iQOO, and Infinix have already started teasing their upcoming devices.

In the coming days, more brands, such as Google and OnePlus, are also expected to unveil their products.

Here are some of the highly anticipated phones launching in May 2024:

While Google hasn’t officially confirmed the launch date of the Pixel 8a, the company is most likely to introduce it this month, possibly ahead of the I/O 2024 developers conference. The Pixel 8a will be the company’s compact smartphone, powered by the same Tensor G3 chip that powers the flagship Pixel 8 Pro.

According to recent leaks, the Pixel 8a is rumoured to have a 6.1-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Additionally, it may come with features such as an IP67 rating and wireless charging. The device is also expected to receive software updates for seven years and could be priced at under Rs 50,000 in India.

Samsung Galaxy F55

Samsung’s Galaxy F55 is another interesting upcoming smartphone that is reintroducing vegan leather back on Samsung smartphones after a couple of years. This mid-tier smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC and features a large 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen. The device will run on OneUI 6.1 based on Android 14 and is expected to receive at least four major Android OS upgrades.

In terms of pricing, the Galaxy F55 might cost around Rs 25,000 for the base variant with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

Infinix GT 20 Pro

If you are looking for an affordable gaming smartphone, the Infinix GT 20 Pro might be worth considering. It’s the successor to last year’s GT 10 Pro and comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC, up to 12 GB RAM, and 256 GB of internal storage.

The device boasts a huge 6.78-inch OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of 360Hz for seamless gaming. It’s expected to be priced at around Rs 25,000 and might be released in the second week of May.

iQOO Z9x

The iQOO Z9x is set to launch on May 16 and is rumoured to be a budget-friendly smartphone featuring a camera module similar to the iQOO 12. Leaks suggest that the device will have a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, up to 12 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of internal storage.

This device boasts several notable features, including a 120Hz LCD display, a 50 MP main camera that can capture 4K videos and a 6,000 mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging. The best part is that it is expected to be priced below Rs 20,000.

According to several reports, the Poco F6 may be a rebranded version of the recently launched Redmi Turbo 3 in India. The base variant is expected to cost around Rs 30,000.

OnePlus might launch its next flagship Nord device, Nord 4, in May. The Nord 4 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, which is as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

It will also come with OxygenOS 14, an alert slider, and a bezel-less 120Hz display. The Nord 4’s design is likely to be similar to the recently launched OnePlus Nord CE 4. Like the OnePlus Nord 3, it is expected to start at Rs 30,000.
