Four payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), totalling £1,075, are set to arrive in February. These Cost of Living payments are a significant boost for UK households, reports BirminghamLive.

To qualify for the upcoming Cost of Living Payment, you need to be receiving one of several benefits. These include Universal Credit, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, and Income Support. Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Pension Credit recipients also qualify.

If you believe you’re entitled to a Cost of Living payment but don’t receive one, you can report this on GOV.UK from 23rd February.

The government has announced new online shopping laws, stating ‘we’re taking steps’.

The Cost of Living Payments for 2023/24 could be worth up to £900 for those on means-tested benefits.

The third Cost of Living payment is £299: To be eligible, you need to have been entitled to a payment for one of these benefits between 13th November and 12th December, or later found to be entitled to a payment.

There’s also a Cold Weather Payment of £25:

Payments are issued when the average temperature where you live is recorded as, or forecast to be, 0C or below over seven consecutive days. The scheme will run until March 31, 2024. You need to be living in England or Wales and claiming certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest to be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment.

Warm Home Discount – £150:

You could get £150 off your electricity bill for winter 2023 to 2024 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. The money is not paid to you – it’s a one-off discount applied to your electricity bill between early October 2023 and 31 March 2024. You’ll usually get the discount automatically if you’re eligible.

If you might be eligible, you’ll get a letter by early January 2024. If you do not get a letter and you think you’re eligible, you must contact the Warm Home Discount Scheme before 29 February 2024.

Winter Fuel Payment – £600:

If you were born before 25 September 1957 you could get between £250 and £600 to help you pay your heating bills. This is known as a ‘Winter Fuel Payment’.

You will not be eligible if you have been in hospital getting free treatment for more than a year, need permission to enter the UK and your granted leave says that you cannot claim public funds or were in prison for the whole of the week of 18 to 24 September 2023.
