He is famed for his controversial ways.
And Gene Simmons was once again causing shockwaves on Thursday morning as he spat out his used chewing gum into a stunned Susanna Reid’s hand while appearing on Good Morning Britain, in the midst of his UK tour.
The Kiss frontman, 73, spoke on the breakfast show about the fact he once sold his gum for $245,000 (£196,614) at a charity auction after which Susanna reached out to nab another piece of gum from the star – who is famed for his tongue out pose.
Susanna, who hosted with Ben Shephard, said: ‘He’s just revealed that a piece of his gum has been auctioned off for a ridiuous amount of money’, after which he said: ‘It’s not ridiculous, I’m kind of a big deal – how much was the amount?’
Susanna then proffered her hand, after which he placed the gum from his mouth into her hand and Ben said: ‘There’s 100s of thousands of dollars worth of chewing gum in your hand there’, while Susanna added: ‘And quite a lot of bacteria no doubt!’

Ew! Gene Simmons was once again causing shockwaves on Thursday morning as he spat out his used chewing gum into a stunned Susanna Reid’s hand while appearing on Good Morning Britain, in the midst of his UK tour

Gross! The Kiss frontman, 73, spoke on the breakfast show about the fact he once sold his gum for $245,000 (£196,614) at a charity auction after which Susanna reached out to nab another piece of gum from the star – who is famed for his tongue out pose
He then revealed that after he appeared on Soccer AM he was asked to remove his gum and joked about putting the item on eBay – he then discovered the eye-popping price the item had fetched for a children’s charity.
The moment occurred in 2013, when he appeared on the Sky show in September when he said: ‘Moms and dads, you may want to hide your children, because I will show you why they call me the king…
‘I’ll take this gum — eBay, eBay. It’s an honor to know that a piece of my chewed gum resulted in a [$245,602] donation to benefit young people. Sometimes little things can have big results.’
His GMB appearance came after the bassist and lead singer of glam rock band Kiss stunned MPs and Westminster watchers by rocking up in the Commons.

The star, who is currently touring the UK with the band, watched Oliver Dowden take on Angela Rayner, while Rishi Sunak is in the United States visiting Joe Biden.
While some viewers of the confrontation suggested it was a weak, dour affair, Gene branded the entertainment ‘insane’ after leaving the chamber, clad in leather trousers and shades.
The hard rocker, in the UK for the band’s End Of The Road tour, was a guest of DUP MP Ian Paisley (North Antrim) and received a private tour before making his first trip into the Commons chamber.
He was deluged with MPs asking for selfies as he toured the building.

Cheeky! GMB shared the clip on social media
Speaking in central lobby, the massive-tongued Crazy Crazy Nights star told the PA news agency: ‘What I just saw in there was controlled chaos. It was the clash of wills but respectful – the right honourable so and so, it was fascinating.
‘In America, it’s like the middle finger is a salute. I think Americans can take a big lesson in civility in how to make democracy actually work and still respect the other side.’
Asked if he had visited Parliament before, Simmons said: ‘Never to Parliament – taught it to my students, but never was physically here and I will tell you, touching a piece of granite that’s over 1,000 years old is insane.

‘America is so young and has no sense of history, everything over there is just fast, immediate, instant gratification and there’s no time to sit there and just gaze, I mean, look where you are – it’s insane.
‘We’re standing on, in terms of democracy, hallowed ground.’
He posed for pictures with Tory MP Alex Stafford, Labour’s Christian Wakeford and Alex Sobel, the Shadow Minister For Nature Of Government.
