#TheMoment a rising hockey star turned tragedy into triumph
Matthew Schaefer is having some kind of first period. It’s crazy to think that you kind of like your world champs. Still doesn’t feel real. We went to Finland 3 weeks ago, bonded as a team. We won our quarterfinal game and then our semifinal game, and then the finals came. We won all of them. We went undefeated. You want to call your mom? You should always be there for me. And she’d always like to watch my games every game. I I think about her so much and I pray to her and I tell her I want to work as hard as I can for her and try to make her proud. I like to get all my strength from her and she was probably the strongest person I’ve ever met. It’s just so tough to just go through cancer and she’d be feeling terrible, but she’d always have a smile on her face and she always put a smile on people faces. Me and my brother put on roller blades and she’d put on hockey equipment so we could shoot on her and she’d just do anything. And no matter what, like she was always happy. I know she’s always with me and she has a front row seat. Right there in a front row, ticket to every game that I love her so much. Something you should know about him. He was laying hockey in the United States where he was living with a host family. But just before he lost his amazing mom, Jennifer, the mother at the host family also died. He has been through too much Full disclosure. I’m close to his extended family, Matthew. They are all so proud of the person you’ve become.
