Lorry driver killed after trailer crashes into road shoulder in Kluang
KLUANG: A 66-year-old lorry driver died after he crashed the trailer into the road shoulder.
Kluang OCPD Asst Bahrin Mohd Noh said the driver lost control of the vehicle at KM71 of Jalan Batu Pahat – Mersing near here at around 1.15pm on Tuesday (Feb 20).
He said the driver was transporting palm oil to Kluang from Mersing when the incident took place.
“The trailer then veered into the road shoulder and turned on its side.
“The driver sustained severe head injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said in a statement.
He added that the body of the victim has been sent to Hospital Eche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang and the case was classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transportation Act 1987.
