Polish President Andrzej Duda has asserted his disbelief in Russia’s potential aggression towards any North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member country, according to Fakt.
“I don’t believe in it (Russian aggression), because I believe we will be ready,” Duda said.
Duda emphasized that Russia wouldn’t dare attack NATO countries as long as they remain strong.
“You don’t attack the strong. You attack the weak. Those whom you can easily defeat. I think if Vladimir Putin knew what awaited him and his army in Ukraine, he wouldn’t have attacked Ukraine,” said the Polish president.
NATO braces for potential escalations
Earlier, German outlet Bild reported NATO’s intention to conduct large-scale exercises in February involving around 90,000 military personnel. The scenario for these exercises involves a Russian attack on Alliance territory.
Meanwhile, NATO’s Military Committee Chairman, Admiral Rob Bauer, stated that the Alliance requires transformation, and the West must prepare for an era where anything can happen anytime, including the outbreak of war.
On January 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that wavering Western support for Kyiv and fears of escalation with Russia could prolong hostilities for years.
