The Script announce two new band members- one year after Mark Sheehan's death
Two new band members have been inducted into The Script Hall of Fame.
Just over one year since the death of their beloved bandmate and best pal Mark Sheehan, Danny O’Donoghue and Glen Power have welcomed bassist Ben Sargeant and guitarist Ben Weaver to the band.

Sharing the news with fans on social media, Danny and Glen wrote: ‘Hi Script Family, You all know how much we care about you and value your opinions and the connection we share.’

‘Before everything begins, we just wanted to touch base and share our plans moving forward,’ they continued. ‘It’s been over a year since we lost our brother Mark, and it has been the toughest year of our lives.’
‘However, your love and support have carried us through, giving us the strength, inspiration and hope to move forward.’

‘The Script, as a three-piece, will never be the same, so transitioning to a four-piece feels like the right way to go,’ Danny and Glen admitted. ‘It is a sign of respect to leave the past as it was and not to attempt to replicate it, as we simply never will.’
‘Ben Sargeant has been with us on bass from the start, and we are excited to welcome Ben Weaver on stage with us on guitar.’

Concluding their message, they wrote: ‘The Script Family means everything to us. Without you, there is no Script, so we wanted to share our plans with you first before we start this new chapter. We can’t wait to see you on the road.’
The Script fans flooded the comments section of the post, all in agreement that while Mark will ‘always be in our hearts,’ that they’ll ‘welcome Ben with open arms.’
Mark, who was The Script’s guitarist, sadly passed away at the age of 46 on April 14, 2023, after a short illness.
At the time, the band released a statement which read: ‘Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.’

Lead singer Danny and drummer Glen later revealed they would dedicate their track Arms Open, from their 2017 album Freedom Child, to Mark at all of their gigs going forward.
The Dubliners said the song ‘meant so much to the three of us,’ adding that it perfectly summed up ‘our journey together from the start,’ as well as summed up ‘our best friend’ Mark.

We’re wishing Danny and Glen the best on what’s sure to be a difficult transitional period for The Script.
Regardless of what they in the future, we know they’ll continue to Paint the Town Green in honour of their beloved best friend Mark.
