Although the dust may have settled on the Rugby World Cup, it’s clear that there are memories for a lifetime that have been made by the Springboks. In a video now just released by World Rugby, two-time Rugby World Cup Champion Cheslin Kolbe sits down to talk about the Springboks’ historic victory at RWC 2023 in France.

The winger speaks about his charge down of Thomas Ramos’s conversion that ultimately proved to be the difference in the quarter-final, their narrow win over England in the semi-final and how hard he found it watching the final ten minutes against New Zealand after he had been yellow carded.

Kolbe is also joined by his captain, Siya Kolisi, as they discuss that game against the All Blacks, and the celebrations once they returned home to South Africa!

At a time when there was no shortage of competition for a berth on the wing – with the likes of Makazole Mapimpi, Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie all pushing for places – Kolbe rose above and beyond to retain his starting position.

Reliable as ever on defence and under the high ball, Kolbe brought all his experience and reliability to his performances, ensuring he never let the team down at any stage.

His performance in the playoffs against France and New Zealand were top drawer as he brought immense passion and energy to every moment of play.

Kolbe has now featured in 30 Tests for the Springboks, and continues to establish his legacy as the ultimate underdog who has risen to the top of his field against all odds.
