The price of petrol in Norway has increased by 15% in the last year

The price of petrol in Norway has increased by 15% in the last year

The average price of petrol in Norway in August was NOK 17.15 per liter. That is 15% higher than a year ago.

At the same time, the August price for lead-free (95 octane) petrol was on average NOK 1.18 higher than the month before, new figures from Statistics Norway (SSB) show.

Petrol prices had risen every month since November last year when the average price was NOK 13.56.

For a period in August, the petrol price was around NOK 20 per liter. At the time, communications manager Knut Hilmar Hansen in Circle K told the newspaper Nettavisen that there was little they could do about it.

“The fees are about 60%, which is a significant proportion of the current price. The cost price, or our purchase price, is about 30%. That means that 90% of the price is beyond our control. Our share is about 10%, and it covers all costs for storage and sales, as well as profit,” Hansen said.

Statistics Norway’s statistics also show that 97 million liters of car petrol were sold in August. That is 3% less than in the same month in 2020.
