The new Lexus UX now packs the Prius’ 196hp hybrid powertrain
The Lexus UX has always been one of the…less powerful models in the carmaker’s stable. Understandably so, since before the LBX arrived, it used to be the smallest crossover in the range.
That said, that might have led a few people to think the UX to be a bit lackluster in the performance department. Lexus is looking to correct that, though, as it’s now introduced a new and more powerful engine setup for the crossover for 2025.

The new UX is the first in its stable to be powered by the fifth-generation Lexus Hybrid System which consists of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with the two motor-generators. This can be spec’d with either a front-wheel-drive layout or with the brand’s E-Four AWD system. Now, if some of these figures seem familiar, that’s because the hybrid setup is derived directly from the award-winning Prius. Fuel economy-wise, this can supposedly do 17-18km/L.
As far as the design goes, Lexus didn’t really change much with the UX. It merely tweaked the fog lamp housing making them look bigger, but the signature spindle grille up front is still there looking as bold as ever.

Standard in the new UX is a seven-inch digital instrument cluster that goes up to 12.3-inch on the higher trim levels. Tech from the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-tracing assist, and road-sign assist are also available.
So…what do you guys think? Should this new and improved UX make its way to our market, too?
