Gavin Hunt highlights SuperSport’s problem
What a dismal run! SuperSport United has not won a football match in 12 attempts. Coach Gavin Hunt believes the issue is just failing to roll the ball into the back of the net.
SUPERSPORT UNITED LOSE 2-0 TO CHIPPA UNITED
Speaking to the media after the 2-0 loss to the Chilli Boys last weekend, coach Gavin feels the score did not reflect the true story of the game.
“I thought it was a dominant performance but the score line doesn’t tell you the whole picture but you have to take your chances when you get them,” the SuperSport coach said via Citizen.
“We had some really big chances they must have had one or two I mean we really had some big chances and we could have scored a few but hey we lost and will take it on the chin they are a big physical a big strong side but I’m not happy with the result that’s for sure.
“It’s our third game in in seven days but we weren’t flat. We [SuperSport] were the better side and we played football but you have to win. We could have been three or four goals up at half-time and out of sight but we didn’t score. In the second half, they never came into our box but that is football and it punishes you sometimes and it has done that to us in the last couple of games,” the SuperSport tactician concluded.
LYLE LAKAY CONFIDENT OF A TURNAROUND
Meanwhile, veteran SuperSport defender Lyle Lakay is confident Matsatsantsa will bounce back from the slump.
“For us senior players that understand and that have been in that situation before. Everybody knows we haven’t won in about five or six games now. It’s important for us to get ourselves out of it and you know, it takes one game,” the 32-year-old defender said via SABC Sport.
“It’s crucial this time of the season to pick up points, for sure I believe you know and the players also believe we [SuperSport] can get ourselves out of it especially now, starting with this one. It’s reality, it’s the truth, we haven’t won and I think we just have to give more, we just have to keep on. There’s nothing else we can do, we just have to show character and i takes that one game to turn everything around. I’ve been in this situation before, personally,” Lakay added on SuperSport’s winless misery.
“With Bloemfontein Celtic before you know and with City [Cape Town City] you know we went on a run where we didn’t win, so I know how it feels and I know there’s more players also that have been in this situation before. I think we need to dig a bit deeper, give a bit more, show a bit more character and like I said it takes that one win to to turn everything around,” the SuperSport star concluded.
