The Fugees thrill audience at Roots Picnic in Philadelphia with reunion for surprise mini-set during Lauryn Hill's performance... as rapper Pras faces up to 20 years in prison

Lauryn Hill gave her fans an unexpected treat during her performance at the Roots Picnic music festival in Philadelphia on Saturday.

The singer, 48, who has complained of artist suppression in the music industry,  was joined by her fellow Fugees bandmates Wyclef Jean, 53, and Pras, 50, during her set.

The surprise performance thrilled the crowd, but it could also be their last — at least for quite some time — as Pras faces up to 20 years in prison after being convicted of 10 counts, including charges of conspiracy, witness tampering and failure to register as an agent of China.

Lauryn was styled in a black ankle length dress with and empire waist and lace skirt.

She paired the look with a matching bolero jacket and a white collard top.

Wyclef looked comfortable in a orange, blue and white sweater with a desert graphic.

The Turn Your Lights Down Low singer wore black pants and a place a blue bucket hat low on his head.

Pras kept his look simple, wearing distressed jeans, a gray sweatshirt and orange, white and gray puffy vest.

The singer’s head was shaved and he wore a nicely trimmed beard.

Festival organizer, Questlove was thrilled that the trio got back together, posting a lengthy essay on in Instagram titled  ‘What A Night.’

The famed music producer began with a history lesson about his friends of three decades writing, ‘In 1993 an unknown band called the Fugees (at the request of the record label I interned at) @ruffhouse records, opened up for us at #TheTrocadero in Philadelphia —-this was one of their first gigs since signing to a major label.’

‘They were there to help us celebrate our signing to @geffernrecords,’ he continued, ‘Their #BluntedonReality got released in early 93.’

‘Now 30 years later & look at us now.’

Rare: Have the group together has been rare. It was the first time they had performed together since a one-off show in New York in September 2021

Anniversary:  The performance also marked the 25th anniversary of Lauryn’s hit album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

It was the first time they had performed together since a one-off show in New York in September 2021.

It could be one of their last as well.

In April, Pras Michel was convicted on 10 counts of money laundering, illegal lobbying, and campaign finance violations for his role in a multimillion-dollar government influence campaign that involved both the Obama and Trump administrations.

What a night: Roots picnic organizer Questlove wrote about the reunion in a long essay on social media title What A Night. He recounted his journey with the friends he made 30 years ago when they were all starting out in the music business

Appeal:  After his conviction, Pras’ lawyer will appeal the conviction. ‘This is not over,’ the Grammy winner’s attorney said after the trial. ‘ I remain very very confident that we will ultimately prevail in this matter’

He faces up to to 20 years in prison.

Pras’s attorney made some objections during the trial over the jury selection process and some of the judge’s rulings.

He is expected to appeal the conviction later this summer, according to NPR.
