The Belleville Senators Beat The Cleveland Monsters On A Controversial Goal
Josh Dunne scored the only goal for the Cleveland Monsters on Wednesday night, while goalie Jet Greaves made 24 saves in the Monsters loss.
The story of this game would be a goal that didn’t appear to go in the net, instead hitting the crossbar and coming back into play. As play continued, the referee then called it a goal. The play went to review where it was somehow confirmed as a good goal, stunning Cleveland fans who were watching and listening. The Monsters radio play-by-play man Tony Brown was in complete shock after it was called a goal after review.
That goal made it 2-0 nothing Sens and despite the Monsters efforts, they couldn’t quite complete the comeback. The Monsters would fall 2-1.
This series has a wacky schedule. The Monsters, even though they won the division, must play the first two games on the road, and then will play the final three (if they get that far), at home in Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Those three games in Cleveland could be moved around based on the Cleveland Cavaliers playoff schedule.
The next game is Friday, May 3rd.
