The Atlas 2.0 robot tackles dull, dirty and dangerous tasks
It’s a new robot that has a potential to do our dirty work. I’m Curtis Cyber Guy. Follow me at cyberguy.com where you can get my newsletter for free. The robot in question is a new Atlas model. It’s the one that has replaced her older liquid hydraulic Atlas model with a new fully electric one. Now, the demo video only showed the robot rising from the floor and walking off, but Boston Dynamics promises a robot’s potential for commercial applications and to tackle the dull, dirty, and dangerous tasks in real applications. And this seems all too possible with the robot’s improved range of motion compared to the original Atlas, along with its ability to move in ways more efficiently and far exceeding that of a human. For now though, Boston Dynamics is partnering with a select group of customers before moving the commercialized version, One being Hyundai which will begin integrating Atlas into their next Gen. factory soon.
