Lawmakers on Wednesday voted to adopt the bill in a second reading.
Some opponents are calling it the ‘Russian law’ bill.
Police used tear gas, stun grenades and water cannon to disperse demonstrators.
The bill would require organisations receiving more than 20 per cent of funding from overseas to register as foreign agents.
Critics say the law is inspired by those used by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to suppress dissent.
