Tel Aviv löst Paris im "Economist"-Ranking als teuerste Stadt ab


Die israelische Küstenmetropole Tel Aviv ist einer Analyse des britischen “Economist”-Magazins zufolge inzwischen die teuerste von den erfassten Städten weltweit. Sie löst die französische Hauptstadt Paris ab, die nun gemeinsam mit Singapur den zweiten Platz belegt.

Dahinter folgt laut den am Mittwoch veröffentlichten Daten der Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) die Stadt Zürich vor Hongkong und New York. Berlin rutschte gegenüber dem Ranking vor einem Jahr acht Plätze nach unten auf Rang 50 und ist damit die billigste der sechs im Index erfassten deutschen Städte.

Die teuerste ist Frankfurt, das im internationalen Vergleich auf Platz 19 steht. Den letzten Platz in der Studie mit dem Titel “Worldwide Cost of Living (WCOL)” nimmt die syrische Hauptstadt Damaskus ein.

Lieferkettenprobleme und die Corona-Massnahmen, die Produktion und Handel einschränkten, haben laut einer Mitteilung zu dem Index dazu beigetragen, dass die Lebenshaltungskosten für viele Stadtbewohner gestiegen sind. Starke Anstiege habe es bei den Kosten für Verkehr durch die stark gestiegenen Ölpreise gegeben.

Insgesamt werden in der Studie die Lebenshaltungskosten in 173 Städten weltweit erfasst und miteinander verglichen. Im Fokus stehen die Preise für 200 Güter und Dienstleistungen.
