Teenage girl dies in crash in Wicklow
A teenage girl has died and a teenage boy has been arrested following a single-vehicle crash in Co Wicklow.
Gardaí remain at the scene of the collision which occurred shortly before 5am on Sunday morning at Slaney Park in Baltinglass.
The passenger of the car involved, a female youth in her teens, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious injuries were reported.
The driver of the car, a male youth in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act.
He is currently detained at a Garda Station in Wicklow under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The road at Slaney Park is now closed pending a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions have also been put in place.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses.
Any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in the Slaney Park area between 4:30am and 5am this morning have been asked to make this footage available.
