Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 Unusual Race, Background, And Class Builds Worth Trying
With near-endless creative opportunities in Baldur’s Gate 3, some players have created some genuinely unusual builds.
Whether it’s a one-handed or two-handed weapon, the common factor remains that these weapons have a sharp edge to deal some serious Slashing damage, and anyone caught on the other end, friend or foe, is in for a bad time, especially if players bring in Baldur’s Gate 3’s best Slashing weapons.
Githyanki Greatsword
4~17 Damage
- Where To Find: Loot Sarth Baretha in the Mountain Pass of The Risen Road
- Effects: Githborn Psionic Weapon – When wielded by a githyanki this weapon deals an additional 1d4 Psychic damage
- Weapon Actions: Pommel Strike, Lacerate, Cleave
Githyanki weapons are extremely powerful in Baldur’s Gate 3, and that’s no surprise considering their species are bred to be warriors. Despite players being able to find multiple Githyanki weapons, the Githyanki Greatsword (Psyionic) is one of the best variants players can find in the game that deals slashing damage and will be in the player’s arms well before Act 3. However, the bonus of Psychic damage is only available to githyanki, so either bring along Lae’zel, or make a githyanki character.
Adamantine Longsword
2~11 Damage
- Where To Find: Forged in the Adamantine Forge with the Longsword Mould and a Mithral Ore
- Effects: Diamondsbane – If an adamantine weapon hits an object, the hit is always critical. Lethal Weapon – This weapon ignores Resistance to Slashing damage
- Weapon Actions: Pommel Strike, Lacerate, Rush Attack
Players can wield this longsword in one-hand, or two-hands for that added flair and damage boost. It’s a great weapon to wield, especially when it has to be earned from a quest rather than simply killing an unsuspecting foe or innocent.

Baldurs Gate 3: 15 New Subclasses That Could Be Added To The Game
Though Baldur’s Gate 3 features some truly great subclasses for players to experiment with, it would be nice to have access to a few more.
Even better still, are the effects of the weapon, which makes Slashing a permanent bonus, even to those who are usually resistant to it.
Sussur Greatsword
3~13 Damage
- Where To Find: Combine a Greatsword with Sussur Tree Bark in the Blacksmith’s Forge in the Blighted Village
- Effects: Silences targets on hit
- Weapon Actions: Pommel Strike, Lacerate, Cleave
The Sussur Greatsword is accessed for the Finish the Masterwork Weapon quest, and players best choose wisely when picking their grand design, as they can’t take it back. Yet, the Sussur Greatsword is a great option to have thanks to its ability to Silence targets. This means that those hit with the sword will be unable to cast spells that require a verbal activation.
The Undead Bane
2~13 Damage
- Where To Find: Looted from Ulma in the Gur Camp, Rivington
- Effects: Slay the Wicked – This weapon deals an additional 1~6 Slashing damage against Fiends and Undead
- Weapon Actions: Cleave, Lacerate, Prepare. Profane Scourge
Not only does The Undead Bane present players with a great weapon in its own right thanks to the damage output, but the capabilities are extended even further thanks to the Slay the Wicked effect, allowing for up to 6 points of Slashing damage extra for Fiends and Undead backgrounds. Many monsters and creatures players will face in Baldur’s Gate 3 come under that category, and pairing that with Profane Scourge could spell instant demise to foes that should already be dead.
Blooded Greataxe
3~17 Damage
- Where To Find: Purchase from Dammon, at The Hollow (Druid Grove) / Roah Moonglow in the Shattered Sanctum
- Effects: Relentless Revenge – When the wielder has 50% Hit Points or less, they deal an additional 1~4 Slashing damage.
- Weapon Actions: Cleave, Lacerate, Prepare
A Martial Two-Handed Melee Greataxe weapon, the Blooded Greataxe is one of the best weapons in the game that can be acquired fairly early into Act 1, provided that players have the appropriate coin to purchase it.

Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 Best Character Endings, Ranked
Baldur’s Gate 3’s branching narrative produces many character endings, but some prove more compelling than others.
As a Rare weapon with a great set of damage attached to it, players can expect a bout of Slashing for killable foes, enhanced by the Relentless Revenge effect that allows players to deal more damage if their health is reasonably low; perfect for situations where players are getting beat on.
Everburn Blade
3~16 Damage
- Where To Find: Kill and loot Commander Zhalik on the Nautiloid
- Effects: Deal +1d4 Fire damage
- Weapon Actions: Pommel Strike, Lacerate, Cleave
The Everburn Blade is possibly one of the first weapons that players will come across in Baldur’s Gate 3, but by no means does that mean it’s one to give up on. This Greatsword is fantastic thanks to the fact that it deals additional Fire damage, meaning that players will always deal bonus damage with each successful hit. The weapon is highly proficient and players that claim this sword will be using it throughout Act 1 and even beyond.
Baldurian’s Giantslayer
5~15 Damage
- Where To Find: Open the secret passage, The Wyrmway in Wyrm’s Rock Prison and enter the Dragon’s Sanctum to defeat and loot Ansur
- Effects: Giantslayer – On a hit, double the damage from your Strength Modifier. This weapon grants you Advantage on Attack Rolls against Large, Huge, or Gargantuan creatures.
- Weapon Actions: Giant Form, Pommel Strike, Lacerate, Cleave, Topping the Big Folk
Arguably the best Slashing weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3, the Baldurian’s Giantslayer is notable for a few factors, and the fact that it’s a well-kept secret is not one of them. The Two-Handed Greatsword is of Legendary rarity, and not only will players have an Advantage on Attack Rolls to larger enemies, but doubling damage from a Strength Modifier and being able to turn into a giant that deals extra damage and has more hit points? It’s safe to say that this is a weapon of warriors in the right hands.
