Tax authorities receive data from reception organisations, allowance is reduced

Childcare organizations have been passing on childcare details of parents to the tax authorities for some time now. The data is then used to check the childcare allowance that parents receive. In this way, they want to prevent parents having to pay back a lot later on. This reports Childcare Total.

More than 12,000 parents received a letter or message in the Childcare Allowance app from January to May 2021. Of these, 2,600 parents have adjusted the annual amount of the childcare allowance downwards by an average of 977 euros. From January 2022 it will be mandatory for childcare to forward the details of the parents to the Tax Authorities. At the moment, about 85 percent provide data.

Personal assistance

It is also the intention that certain parents will receive personal guidance from the Tax Authorities when applying for or changing the allowances. 285 parents have already been personally supervised or they are participating in a long-term process.
