Tamworth Morrisons crash drama as car smashes into wall

Morrisons supermarket says it is “working hard to fix” damage after a car crashed into its car park wall. The incident happened at the Upper Gungate branch near Tamworth town centre earlier this month.

Our pictures and video footage show the extent of the damage, which has not been reported to police. The incident happened near to the electric car charging point and Euro Car Parks sign. The car and area has been fenced and coned off and the supermarket remains open as normal.

An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said: “I could not believe my eyes, I was simply just shocked and speechless.

“How on earth has this happened?! I hope everyone is ok but you have got to question why and how, especially at a supermarket!

“It is certainly not what I was expecting to see when I walked round the corner to come and do my shopping. I have never seen anything like it before.

“Thankfully it all looks relatively safe in its own space having been cordoned and coned off for no one else to collide with.”

A Morrisons spokesperson told us: “We can confirm an incident involving a vehicle took place on the 8th March at our Tamworth store. We are working hard to have this fixed at the earliest opportunity and we remain open as normal.”

Staffordshire Police said: “This incident has not been reported to us and we have not been able to locate any incidents on our logs.”
