Commonwealth Bank Chief Executive Matt Comyn says “hopefully” once inflation is under control Australia can get back to normal economic scenario and growth.
Inflation pushes Aussie households to make ‘real sacrifices’: Commonwealth Bank CEO
“What we hear consistently from customers, both directly and indirectly is many households are really feeling under pressure,” he said.
“We don’t necessarily see that as it shows up in our proportion of customers who aren’t making their repayments, that’s obviously a very, very small number.
“It’s all relative, I mean we’re very fortunate that unemployment is very low and so we don’t have many people out of work.
“When you have a rapid change in the interest rate over a relatively short period of time – that has come with real sacrifices for many households.”
