The Dutch are still the tallest people in the world, but they are shrinking.
The Dutch Statistics Bureau CBS reported that the generation born around 1980 was the highest, with an average male size of 183.9 cm compared to the average 175.6 cm of the generation born in 1930.
The woman born in 1980 was also 5.3 cm taller than the 1930 class, 170.7 cm. However, the current generation of 19-year-old men is on average 1 cm smaller than their giant ancestors, and women are 1.4 cm smaller.
According to the report, the reduction in average is partly related to immigration, but the growth of those whose parents and grandparents are Dutch inbreeders is also “stagnation”.
“Men who are not children of immigrants are not tall, and women who are not children of immigrants are on the decline,” the report said.
This report is based on health data for 2012, 2016 and 2020 and compares the lengths of 719,000 people between the ages of 19 and 60. This data is used to estimate the average length of 19 years for each generation.

However, the Netherlands maintains its title as the tallest person in the world, and the generation born at the beginning of this century maintains this position, the report said.
Gert Stulp, a reproductive decision-making and height researcher at the University of Groningen, told Volkskrant that the shrinking trend is reflected in other countries as well. “For example, in the United States, growth is slowing and women are getting a little smaller,” he said.
“This is probably because people are eating less, fatter foods and worse diets. This could also play a role in the Netherlands.
Different parts of the Netherlands have different heights, and the people of Friesland are about 3 cm taller than the people of Limburg, but it is unclear why this is the case.
Over the past few years, studies have shown that Dutch people may not be tall, but they are fat.
