Though the sun may be shining some of us want still want to stay inside on our couches watching Netflix but the question is what to flick on the auld telly?
Well, the new documentary Take Care Of Maya might just be the thing to scratch the itch you have for a bit of real-life medical mystery drama.
Maya Kowalski was just ten years old when her parents brought her to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital back in 2016 with unusual symptoms. From there, no one could have predicted what lay ahead for the young girl and her family.
Though the child was in pain doctors seemed to place the blame on her mother claiming her mother Baeta had made up the whole thing in order to get attention.

As a result, Maya was separated from her parents and taken into custody leaving her family devastated and raising questions about the US childcare system.
The reality of the situation was much more complicated as the youngster would later be diagnosed with a complex and misunderstood condition.
Take Care of Maya recounts and examines these events, and how a broken system led to Maya being taken away from her family and her mother eventually taking her own life.
It will feature members of the Kowalski family who will tell their side of the story and how after a long battle they were finally reunited with a seriously ill Maya.

While the family believes the actions of the doctors were uncalled for Dr Sally Smith who led the medical team believed that they were justified in the measures.
The story of the Kowalski family – as told in their own words – will change the way you look at children’s healthcare.
Take Care Of Maya will hit Netflix on June 19th.
