'Misogynistic' Married At First Sight groom Ben Walters is slammed as 'sexist' for saying 'kids are important to females' and that women will sleep 'with anybody' to have a baby

Married At First Sight groom Ben Walters has been accused of being ‘misogynistic’ by viewers after he bizarrely declared ‘kids are important to females’.

The tour guide, 39, took part in the values task with his wife Ellie Dix, 32, during Wednesday night’s episode, when the couple clashed over their differing views on having children.

Nurse Ellie made it clear that she wants to have children, but said it would have to be with the right person, while Ben said he would be willing to be with someone who doesn’t want kids.

After he put having a family low on his list of values, Ben explained that he would be willing to either have kids or not, before accusing women of ‘settling’ with any man just to have a baby.

Ellie became tearful as she tried to explain that she wants to have children in the future, prompting Ben to brand her as ‘sensitive’.

Viewers were quick to take to X – formerly known as Twitter – to slam Ben for his ‘sexist’ remarks as they criticised him for generalising.

One fan wrote: ‘So Ellie declares a choice. Ben sh**s all over it, starts spewing sexist bulls**t, Ellie gets upset and Ben just labels her as sensitive.’

Another said: ‘Ben – NOT all women want to have kids but Ellie does so just leave and let her find a man that wants kids and a family.’

A third fumed: ‘”Kids are important FOR FEMALES” Are you for real Ben!? What a dumb thing to say,’ and another penned: ‘”Kids are very important for females. I understand.” WHAT ROCK DID THEY FIND BEN UNDER??’

One commented: ‘Tell me you don’t want kids without telling me Ben,’ while a sixth raged: ‘Ben is a misogynist d**khead! I didn’t see that coming.’

The tense moment came when Ellie and Ben took on the famous values task, where they had to list the things that were important to them in order of priority.

Ellie – who has been very open about wanting to be a mother – put being family orientated at the top of her list, as well as her desire to have children.

‘From what I recall Ben was saying, he’s really looking to settle down and start a family and I’m very much at that stage as well,’ she said.

Scenes then reflected back on her conversation with the experts, where she said: ‘I definitely see myself becoming a mother, but I have to find the right guy to do that with, I wouldn’t rush into anything.

‘But yeah, I’ve got a body clock. I want to be in a loving relationship, rather than finding someone to have children with for the sake of it. I want a partner in crime to have a life with and have fun with.’

But Ellie was left surprised during the task when Ben put being family orientated and having children very low on his list, ranking good conversation, having a healthy lifestyle, good looks and being good in bed much higher.

‘I put family orientated first, like wants children is a must. I know what my values are and what I want at this stage in my life,’ Ellie said to camera.

‘When he started putting them up, I was like “OK great, where is that family one coming?”‘

With Ellie looking alarmed, Ben explained: ‘I’m very open to being with someone who does not want to have children. I’m also very much open to the possibility of having a family or having kids. But it’s not, “I’ll have children with anybody, don’t care”.’

Ellie insisted that she too doesn’t want to have children with just anybody, prompting Ben to ask: ‘How many people in society do these days?’

Ellie then said: ‘A lot, and they get divorced,’ to which Ben continued: ‘Oh there’s a man with a job, he’s got all his teeth, that’ll do – they settle.’

Ellie said: ‘I’m not just going to have children for the sake of it, just because of my body clock, no way.’

Ben then asked her if she’d be willing to not have any children, saying: ‘So, how do you feel about me with the possibility of not doing it? Of being open to that.’

Fighting back tears, Ellie replied: ‘I feel like you’re not understanding this at all. I’m feeling like you’re not listening to me.’

Ben then said that she was ‘sensitive’ as he told her: ‘I understand that you’re a very sensitive woman.’

Speaking to camera, Ellie emotionally said: ‘I’m putting my heart and soul into explaining that I want a family but I’m not going to have children just for the sake of having children, I’ve said this multiple times. If he doesn’t want to have children, then I’m out.’

Ben has previously been accused of only going on the show for fame and to promote his podcast by Ellie’s overprotective cousin Jordan

Trying to clarify her perspective, she told Ben: ‘You’ve told me that you’re open to having children, but also to not having children. You’ve met me, we’re married, I want children – would you be happy with that?’

To which Ben clarified: ‘Yeah, I’m open to that.’

Speaking to camera, Ben added: ‘Obviously Ellie has a sensitive soul, this is a sensitive topic. That possibly really struck a nerve, it makes sense, she just wants to be a mum, it’s very common.’

‘Kids are very important for females, I understand,’ he added.
