T20 World Cup squad: India announces WC team; Rohit Sharma to lead, Chahal, Samson return
The BCCI announced the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the US and West Indies. The chief of India’s senior selection committee Ajith Agarkar and secretary Jai Shah held a key meeting in Ahmedabad. Indian captain Rohit Sharma joined the meeting via video conference. India squad for T20 World Cup features, the inclusion of Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma will captain the squad of 15, which includes the return of Yezhuvender Chahal and the inclusion of Shivam Dubey. Hardik Pandya also returns as India’s vice captain, while Rinku Singh and Shubh Mangal are travelling reserves. Sanju Samson and Disha Pant are the two wicket keepers in the squad. England is the defending champion having beaten Pakistan in the 2022 T 20 World Cup final in Melbourne. Indias 15 man squad includes Rohit Sharma as captain Hardik Pandya vice captain Yashashree Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant wicket keeper Sanju Samson, wicket keeper Shivam Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Chehal, Arshdeep Singh, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj. While reserves include Shubh Mangal, Rinku Singh, Khalil Ahmed and Avesh Khan.
