If you haven’t seen the video it’s worth watching, if only to see a world class athlete come down to earth in a moment of clumsiness.
Pittsburgh Steelers superstar T.J. Watt was cleaning out his pool earlier this offseason when he lost his footing and went tumbling into the water. The incident was caught on his security camera and when he shared the video it, of course, went viral.
Now at Steelers’ OTAs, Watt had a chance to address the incident with the media.
“I am good. I don’t know how I missed the step, but I did,” Watt said with a laugh, per the team website. “A lesser athlete would have got hurt.”
Watt revealed that the incident was originally just shared in a group chat among friends, but his friend group thought the moment was too hilarious to not share with social media.
“The only reason I posted it is because I wasn’t hurt,” said Watt. “It was all in good fun. I put it in the group chat, and they are like it’s too funny not to post. You might as well just post it.”
The Steelers are undoubtedly ecstatic Watt is okay, because he’ll be an important part in turning around last season’s 9-8 campaign that ended with Pittsburgh missing the playoffs for just the sixth time in Mike Tomlin’s 16 seasons as head coach.
Watt had just 5.5 sacks last season after playing in only 10 games due to injury.
