Unfortunate news has struck System Of A Down as frontman Serj Tankian has tested positive for COVID, which has caused the band to postpone their concerts scheduled for Los Angeles this weekend.
SOAD was set to perform at the Banc Of California arena on October 22 and 23 alongside KORN, Helmet, and Russian Circles, but fans will now have to wait until February of 2022 to catch them in the City of Angels.
In a post on their social channels, the band, which released new music in late 2020 said, “It is with great regret that we must reschedule our Los Angeles performances to February 4th and 5th, 2022. Despite multiple precautionary measures, Serj has unfortunately tested positive for COVID. We’re sorry to disappoint our amazing fans with this last minute news, as we could not wait to finally play for you. However, the health of our band, crew, venue staff and all of our fans is our top priority.”
All tickets for the postponed shows will be honored on the new dates, and refund information will be emailed to all ticketholders.
This is not the first time the pandemic has affected members of the tour. Multiple members of KORN, including singer Jonathan Davis, came down with the virus over the summer, forcing the cancelation and postponement of a few shows. Davis made his return with the band in late August performing seated on a throne and using oxygen during their sets.
